REVISITED

HÖRNLI MEETS MOON - Switzerland

The mountain has been photographed before. The cloud arrived for this one.

Some places have been photographed by everyone. The Matterhorn from Stellisee. A church spire against an Alpine ridge. A mountain lake at first light. The frame already exists in the collective memory before the camera arrives.

These are not images that try to invent the place. The place has been seen. What these images propose is a different question: what happens when the photographer stops trying to compete with the postcard and waits for something else.

A cloud arrives at the wrong time. The mountain stays in the fog longer than expected. A car passes through the frame at the blue hour and leaves a line of light behind. The moon does not wait for the exposure. The famous mountain stops being the subject and becomes one element among others.

The place was already known. The moment was not. What the image records is the difference between the two.

A car passes the church. The Watzmann waits in the light.

The place was already there.

The moment was not.
