"For me, true landscape photography is the result of patience. It is about being present at the exact moment when nature reveals its most powerful impact.”

Axel Schmidtke is a Munich-based photographer working in some of the most remote and unpredictable landscapes on earth.

His images capture moments that exist only briefly — when movement slows, tension settles, and vast environments fall into an unexpected stillness.

Alongside his photographic work, he operates in executive leadership within a global organization. The contrast is intentional: one environment defined by constant decisions, the other by waiting.

Both are about the same thing — recognising the exact moment when everything aligns.

His work is held in private collections across Europe.

Shortlisted for the Sony World Photography Awards 2026, Axel Schmidtke’s work has gained significant international recognition within the photography press and global editorial features.

His piece "Chaos" will be exhibited at Somerset House, London, in April and May 2026.

This ongoing critical acclaim continues to establish his work within prestigious private collections across Europe.
